= LaME’12 = = 2012 International Workshop on Languages for the Multi-core Era = The focus of the workshop is Programming Languages support for concurrency, with a special emphasis on innovative concurrency models. The main objective of this workshop is to become a forum for the proposal and discussion of creative ideas for new concurrency models, or the validation of novel concurrency models that have already been proposed. Nonetheless, run-time system and library support for concurrency are also within the range of topics of interest at the workshop. The workshop is co-located with [http://ecoop12.cs.purdue.edu/ ECOOP 2012]. * [[Program]] * [[Open Concurrency Challenge]] * [[Call For Papers]] * [[Committee]] == Motivation == Concurrent programming has become a fundamental approach for leveraging the processing power of modern multi-core architectures. And, although research in concurrent programming models and languages is decades old, writing concurrent software today continues to be challenging and error-prone as always. The advent of multi-core architecture refueled the quest for efficient concurrency models and productive programming languages. Consequently, the last decade has been witness to a growing effort of research in this area. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for the proposal and discussion of new ideas in concurrent programming languages and models, and to provide feedback to authors in an informal atmosphere. Submissions can fall in two categories: full papers reporting on refined technical work and 2-page proposals for talks on provisional or ongoing work. Authors are invited to submit work on innovative concurrency models, programming languages, tools and frameworks for concurrent software development and execution. Participants are invited to address a challenge problem that provides a focus and unifying theme for diverse approaches discussed in the workshop.
